Need Root Motion For Gravity, But It Affects Rotation?

I have a little animated character in my game with multiple animations. In order to have gravity affect him, I turned on “Apply Root Motion” in his animator. Now one of his animations won’t rotate like I have it set to do in the animation window, and the internet seems to say that I would need to disable “Apply Root Motion” in order to get it back.

How can I have gravity, rotation, and animation at once? To apply root motion or not to apply root motion?
