NVIDIA GTX 1050 does not appear as VGA compatible controller

Desrciption

NVIDIA GTX 1050 does not appear as VGA compatible controller on my laptop. After installing nvidia-430 on my machine, I expected that NVIDIA GTX 1050 appear as VGA compatible controller, but it only appear as 3D controller.

I am curious whether it is natural not to have NVIDIA on the list, or am I missing something so that NVIDIA GTX 1050 is not appearing as VGA compatible controller although it is supposed to be here, if properly set up.

How can I tell Ubuntu to display using my 1050 Ti rather than my 1080 Ti?

I built a linux box with a GTX 1080 Ti, mainly for Machine Learning experiments, which has been working fine for about a year.

I am now adding a 4K screen, so I will have dual screen setup. In order to leave the 1080 Ti unburdened by driving screens, I added a GTX 1050 Ti just for that purpose.

However, at the moment I can’t get Ubuntu to use the 1050 for the displays; the screens stay dark.

The driver seems to work fine though, at least nvidia-smi lists both cards:

No HDMI output from dell latop with nvidia 1050 graphic card

I’ve searched everywhere on the internet for find a solution to this problem, I’ve tried everything but still nothing work: the external monitor is connected with my laptop trought HDMI, and this is the xrandr output:

When I type ”’ xrandr –output HDMI-1-1”’ it gives no output, but still nothing happen.

Better training time using computer with GTX 1050 (4GB) than computer with GTX TITAN X (12GB). How is it possible?

What is it CPU times? I use tensorflow-gpu… Should be GPU-times? What is going on?

AMD 5800K + 1050 Ti – Run Dual Graphics

For a long time I’ve been using an extra monitor on my laptop. Today I thought I’d connect a second monitor to my desktop, so I tried. It didn’t work. I checked the Bios, but the option for enabling integrated graphics on my APU was grayed out. Not clickable.

Specs
CPU AMD 5800K
GPU NVidia 1050 Ti 4GB
Motherboard MSI FM2-A75MA-E35
RAM 8 GB @ 666 Mhz
OS Windows 10

I’ve also checked my NVidia Control Panel, but there’s nothing wrong there. Any help?
