Audio sink Base Volume is 8593035 / 13112% / 127,06 dB

Ubuntu 18.04 running i3wm

I have since long handled the audio via pactl set-sink-volume 0 +2% where the 0 is the sink (depending on the device that I use, might be other number).

Yesterday something changed: I realized that if I low the volume a little bit, there is no audio at all (like, the audible range is now from 80 to 100%).

When I check with pactl list sinks, I see that all the other output sinks have the Volume, and something called Base Volume, which is normally set to 100%.

In case of the sink I am using (a USB speaker), this Base Volume is set to 8593035 / 13112% / 127,06 dB. It is of course wrong, but the problem is that I cannot find a way to fix this. It was working normally for about a year (with the same hardware, same config, same everything).

Any comment that can help me solve this would be appreciated

FYI, with the GUI of pavucontrol, I see nothing wrong see pavucontrol screenshot (I cant embed images due to my reputation, I’m quite new here).
