What are the most problematic aspects of the Archivist sub class for the Artificer (UA) [on hold]

So, the Artificer class has finally been released, and I found it curious that the Archivist from the UA Artificer (revised) had been cut. Obviously play test content is always subject to change, but I was wondering what aspects of this subclass were problematic.

Are there some features which are considerably over/underpowered?

Is there any reading material available relating to the design decisions for this class?

Important aspects to carry out different businesses or companies simultaneously

When we talk business, companies, licenses of our websites, I think we have to take different aspects into consideration. Especially if we are creating different websites or companies. We have to widely diversify our goal, maintain the essence of our business and do each one, in a unique way, without moving away from our business model of course. If we are dealing with different potential clients in different companies, and we are starting each one, the best way is to save as much as…

PostSharp aspects in SHFB

I am using SHFB (Sandcastle Help File Builder) to generate electronic documentation based on assembly and XML documentation files. Though normal attributes (like [Serializable]) are displayed correctly, PostSharp aspects are displayed like e.g. [DebuggerTargetMethodAttribute(100663400)].

Is there any solution to deal with this?

Q: good book detailing the security aspects of Microsoft Active Directory

I am attending training later this summer related to AD pentesting. As such, I wanted to ask for book recommendations which detail (in full or in part) the security aspects of Active Directory. The more detailed the better.

Most books I’ve picked up thus far are much more concerned with administration. I’ve been having a hard time finding information on specifically the security surrounding AD. How the various components communicate with one-another, NTLM, Kerberos, trusts, etc… Not just how to wire it up but how it ticks.

Very much appreciate any help provided.

Edit: I should have mentioned that I’m open to all forms of media. I said “book” but videos, blog posts, training courses…. open to it all. Trying not to break the bank but all suggestions are helpful. Thank you.

Create/use aspects in game that do not fit well with approaches

How do you deal in Fate Accelerated with actions that would be based on either material (resources) or relational (rapport, contacts) skills from Fate Core?

I had a couple of occasions at my table where both me and my friends could not come up with a satisfactory explanation for which an approach should have been used to buy a potion off a merchant within the context of a create advantage action. This can be said for weapons, rides etc Other examples have been, finding someone in a city by asking around (both the player and the target character were from the same organisation).

  • I have solved it at times by linking it to an approach that was related to the aim of the potion or the type of organisation (like sneaky for poisons and for thieves guilds for instance), other times to the aim of the action (careful if long sited for instance) or the way it was carried out (like forceful if player was going around intimidating people and flashy for a character that was trying to be friendly while searching for info in the city)
  • Another way was just to assume that if a relevant aspect was in game (like being part of the guild) players could have “rolled” the aspect instead of an approache at +2 bonus.
  • Other times I asked to spend a Fate point to declare that they found the info or the potion without rolling but this meant, no free invocation on the aspect or element of chance and suspance.

I’d appreciate some suggestions.

How to play ethic aspects my character is said to have, I as player don’t understand?

Recently in a Pathfinder campaign I encountered the following in a combat situation, after our group made an ambush on a castle inhabited by a small Gnoll clan. Our group clearly had the upper hand and the Gnolls started to evacuate the castle. On my turn my Thief went behind a house to get stealth again, but when he run around a corner he just ended up in melee range to a Gnoll who was covering a flank while behind him the Gnoll-children were being evacuated by 2~3 other Gnolls. So said to our GM that I am gonna make a melee attack against that Gnoll. Which our DM responded to with:

GM: So you intend to kill the children?

ME: No.

GM: So why you want to kill that guard then?

ME: Cause he is threatening me and I am in melee range with him.

GM: He is threatening you because he is there to protect the children. If you just lower your weapon and walk away he wont even attack you.

ME: But how my character is supposed to know that? He is currently in melee having a weapon pointed on him, by someone belonging to a clan we just wiped out halfway over the last few minutes. Why would my character take the risk turning his back to that guy?

GM: Cause that’s common sense that while guarding the evacuation of the children, he had no reason to start fighting you, if you not attack him. Also keep in mind attacking him would contradict your alignment.

ME: Ok, so since I clearly lack that common sense you talk about, tell me please, what would my character then do instead now?….

So I ended my turn after using my action for moving back to where I just started. This felt very unrewarding and despite I still disagree, that no matter what alignment my character has, he wouldn’t have just turned his back to someone pointing his weapon at him, after my character just killed half of that enemies family. No matter what was going on behind that enemies back. But for the sake of this question lets focus on the following:

If I end up again in a situation, where everyone at the table agrees, that the actions I want my character to do are contradicting with what my char would be doing by common sense, how can I solve the situation without giving up player agency, despite I as player lack the interpersonal knowledge of what my Character is expected to do by common sense?

Is there an expiration date to free invokes of aspects?

I have been looking through FATE book and i couldn’t find something regarding when the free invoke of an aspect would expire which felt rather broken to me as i could carry several throwing daggers with me and i could add ‘Sharpened’ aspect and get +2 to my roll with each of my dagger throws.

What i wish to ask is that is there anything that might prevent me from doing so?
