How can I isolate the cause of poor performance whne running X-Plane 11 in windowed mode?

I used to run X-Plane 11 (flight simulator) when I was on Ubuntu 16.04 and had no performance issues other than when I pushed the limitations of my hardware. So, everything worked exactly as expected. However, after upgrading the 18.04, I can only achieve good performance when running XP11 in fullscreen mode and when XP11 has focus. If I carry my mouse to another monitor and shift focus to another program (e.g., firefox), my entire computer stutters. Furthermore, if I try to run the game in windowed mode my computer stutters horribly regardless of which program has focus. I do not believe my problem is with a necessary bottleneck in the system, because my CPU, GPU, and RAM are never maxed out when running the game. Furthermore, XP11 says I’m getting 40-60FPS while I’m experiencing the stuttering.

I submitted a support ticket to the XP11 devs, but received a very short response to the effect of “Sorry, we don’t support Linux”. This leaves me a bit uncertain about how to proceed. It seems like the problem is on the OS side rather than with XP11, but I’m not certain how to begin eliminating possible causes. Here are some relevant details:

System Specs:

  • Graphics card: Sapphire Radeon R9 280
  • Graphics drivers: Default Open-Source AMD drivers
  • CPU: i5-4690K
  • RAM: 16GB DDR3
  • Three monitors (can provide more detail if needed)
  • Game is X-Plane 11 version 11.36r2 run through Steam

I’m considering trying to use a different set of drivers, but in the past when I’ve experimented with graphics driver’s I’ve ended up a sad panda for one reason or another (e.g., monitors go blank when booting up). Furthermore, I have no other issues with other games or programs so I’m a bit concerned about creating more problems. In any case, I’m willing to try messing around with graphics drivers if I need to, but I wanted to get some input before I start toying with an otherwise perfectly stable system.

Include dependency on another microservice, or isolate the dependency in a third microservice?

New to the microservice arena, and working through some “guiding concepts” for architecture.

Assume a “User” microservice that identifies users. A second microservice, “System” identifies systems. To associate users/access to a system, there would typically be a join table, and it “seems reasonable” that this table would live in either “User” or “System”.

But, what happens when “Organization” is introduced? Does “User” (assuming it had the join to “System”) have to be updated to include a new join? Or, would it be cleaner to implement separate “System User” and “User Organization” services, creating a more hierarchical dependency, and avoiding direct awareness between the “User”, “System” and “Organization” microservices?

How can I isolate data when dragging a field onto an InfoPath form from a User Information List Data Connection?

I managed to create a Data Connection in InfoPath with hopes to retrieve the current user’s information, display name, etc. However, when ever I drag the desired field over on to the InfoPath form, it creates a Repeating Section which includes all entries for that field. How do I isolate the information to be just for the current user?

Isolate devices on the same network

I asked a similar question on this topic and some guys recommended use VLANs or guest network, so I asked to a friend and he will give to me a router with guest network function. However, there is a device (my father’s computer) that I want to also isolate, but guest network will not work totally since this computer use cable directly connect to the router.

This is my intranetwork currently:

          Another devices | Internet --- Router 1 | My father's devices

But I recently read that if I connect a cable from a router’s LAN port to another router’s WAN port, it’s like isolate the devices, as devices in router 2 can connect to router 1, but not vice-versa.

This will work like this:

                      Another devices | Internet --- Router 1 --- Router 2 | My father's devices

My intention is, because security concern, isolate ALL the traffic between my father’s devices and another devices in my home. So, my question is: Will the second intranetwork do that? I need, at least, that my father’s devices can’t communicate with another devices.

How to isolate systemic hangs in macOS 10.14?

I’m struggling with some kind of a hang that is very elusive. Apple can’t seem to isolate the problem after many sysdiagnose submissions. It predominantly happens in instances of Google Chrome, Finder and even Activity Monitor (and other random apps) sometimes when certain actions are taken. The only way to recover is a sudo reboot from he shell.

No drives are actually failed or failing as one might expect. This is on a Mac Pro with ECC memory and all RAM is showing as good. I have to think that there’s some dtrace tooling that would facilitate tracking down the precise point of the hang. It feels as though it’s some form IO failure, but there’s no indication of where or how…

What options exist for tracking down such issues at a very low level?

How to isolate seperate organizations data using databases

A new project I am about to begin will require isolated data for each organization that registers. Ideally, each would be accessible with unique credentials. I want to use either Firebase or AWS for the backend but I am not sure how to go about this. Is it possible to have sperate instances of databases or is there a better way to go? Does anyone have any advice?
