Stop smartphone microphone from listening in background

Recently it has come to light that tech companies such as Facebook and Microsoft use humans to listen and transcribe audio conversations on Facebook messenger and Skype to improve their AI. However this only occurs when the app is active.

I’m a little concerned if it is possible for applications to listen to background conversations. Like some apps using Alphonso software listened to TV noise in the background using the smartphone’s mic.

Is it possible to prevent apps from accessing the phone’s microphone in background but still allow microphone use when using the app (e.g. making a Skype call)? Perhaps through an app/operating system which notifies you when your microphone is in use?

Apache Nginx Varnish listening port Magento 2

Centos 6

Already using Apache + Nginx on my Magento 1 sites on a dedicated server

For a Magento 2.2 site I want to run varnish

However after installing varnish – i saw in the instructions need to change listening port-

What I did is to keep apache on 8080 and change Nginx from 80 to 446 (443 is being using for SSL) and changed inside [Home]/etc/varnish default.vcl

from 8080 to 80

Stopped and Restarted Apache Nginx and Varnish however when I went to open the websites none of them are able to connect –

I checked varnish port

ps aux | grep varnish

Output I get is

[root@server ~]# ps aux | grep varnish varnish 6393 0.0 0.0 28932 5204 ? SLs 15:26 0:00 /usr/sbin/varni shd -a :6081 -f /etc/varnish/default.vcl -T 127.0.0.1:6082 -p thread_pool_min=50 -p thread_pool_max=1000 -S /etc/varnish/secret -s malloc,256M -P /var/run/varni sh.pid varnish 6403 0.0 0.7 316840 116444 ? SLl 15:26 0:00 /usr/sbin/varni shd -a :6081 -f /etc/varnish/default.vcl -T 127.0.0.1:6082 -p thread_pool_min=50 -p thread_pool_max=1000 -S /etc/varnish/secret -s malloc,256M -P /var/run/varni sh.pid root 11434 0.0 0.0 103320 904 pts/0 S+ 16:07 0:00 grep varnish [root@server ~]#

Shows 6081 and 6082 but not the port 80 I set

I read some other posts with people with similar problems but I dont have on my server the file changes mentioned in those server locations.

One more thing is that before today I has Varnish 2.1 but today I installed 5.2 – i didn’t remoeve the version 2.1 but just followed instructions to install the 5.2 version – so can this be the cause and where else would varnish be getting those values for port setting?

Nginx – doesnt seem to work unless it’s on port 80

Please can anyone help asap stuck on this all day

Network Policy Server + RADIUS not listening on any ports for Windows Server 2019

Trying to setup Windows Server 2019 as a RADIUS server. However, after configuring everything, “netstat -b” shows that the machine is not listening on any of the expected RADIUS ports (1812, 1645, 1813, 1646).

  1. Installed the “Network Policy and Access Services” role
  2. Followed the “Configure VPN or Dial-up” wizard RADIUS wizard

  3. Confirmed RADIUS configuration: RADIUS config

  4. Confirmed “Network Policy Server” ports: NPS ports

  5. Confirmed the “Network Policy Server” service is running.

Result: “netstat -b” shows that the machine is not listening on any of the expected RADIUS ports (1812, 1645, 1813, 1646).

Have tried with no luck:

  1. Rebooting
  2. Restarting the “Network Policy Server” service

Can two connected sockets be listening to each other?

I’m dealing with the situation when both the client and server are responding to various events from the user and need to be able to notify each other about these events. However, in socket communication, only one (the server) is calling socket.listen() thus it cannot initiate communication, but can only respond to messages from the client. What if the server needs to inform the client of a particular event? Is the only solution to open two sockets on two different ports, so that both can simultaneously listen()? Thank you very much in advance.

Has anyone encountered this issue? Any help will be appreciated.

JS keylogger listening to what is being typed in an iframe?

Having discovered the X-Frame-Options sameorigin that stops a website from being shown in a iframe, I am trying to understand how far not having this header can go.

What I am not sure about is if it’s possible to have a evil website, which a JS keylogger embedded, and embed within it an iframe with a legitimate website.

Then, the user only see the legitimate website (which is itself stored inside an iframe), however the real website is listening to what is being typed, what is being clicked on, etc via JS.

Is such a scenario possible ? The reverse seems to be true, where you inject an iframe via an XSS attack, but is this way possible ?

This answer only suggest that it is possible to do so by injecting something via XSS, in an already existing website.

This code show a JS keylogger, however testing it on a dummy website doesn’t seem to work. I don’t have the time to debug this further, and am only interested in knowing if it is possible. A PoC would be nice however.
