D&D (Sorry imma noob)

So it’s my first time playing and I chose a Warlock. Is a component pouch more useful than arcane focus? Another question is that when I looked at the options in arcane focus, one of the options is arcane focus, so what does that mean?

Noob Kubuntu/Linux user here. Need help step-by-step installation for p5.js and how to set up for it to work

I’m in desperate need help installing p5.js and making it work on my linux kubuntu os for school. I tried to look for videos on youtube on how to install p5.js on linux but failed to find anything and that fully explain how to install it.

I found this: https://github.com/processing/p5.js-editor/issues/250 but I struggle to understand what the poster meant to do “chmod +x” I tried to google it and got lost in it.

I’m new to linux os and have only been able to install programs using Sudo apt-get install or install programs through “app” store called Discover that came on Kubuntu.

I have no idea how to install programs using the zip-method. I downloaded the p5.js zip and unzipped it on the download folder but nothing happened… can someone please help me and provide a fully noob-proof instructions on how to get p5.js running on linux?

Thanks!

noob – install wireless but need internet

Just installed Ubuntu and now I want to install driver for a wireless USB adapter:

LB-Link BL-LW06-AR 300 Mbps USB Wireless N Adapter

Their driver needs to be compiled.

I type

make

..It says ‘apt install make’. I type that.

..It says : Package ‘make’ has no installation destination

sudo apt update

…and I get errors about ‘Could not resolve ‘security.ubuntu.com’

BECAUSE I don’t have the internet, right? I’m trying to get my wireless stick working, so I’m in an unhappy cycle here.

—-If anyone has the compiled driver or any advice, I appreciate it.

Peter

Not so noob entrepreneur, but new here anyway

Good day fellow Digital Pointers :)

And thanks for the acceptance.

I live and work in South Africa. If you know where Africa is on a world map, just head down to the most southern point. Well … Cape Town is almost the most southern point of Africa (to be geographically correct lol).

We know a bit about door systems (strip curtains, impact doors, industrial doors etc), but around here is a wealth of experience and knowledge about online marketing, search engines, seo and development, among…

I work with a company and another developer posted this and wanted us all to run it. i’m noob with things like this

I don’t really trust the guy and i’m trying to take my time to learn everything about it, but what do you guys think?

generate_ssl.sh

#!/bin/bash  name=ourwebdomain.local openssl req \   -new \   -newkey rsa:2048 \   -sha256 \   -days 3650 \   -nodes \   -x509 \   -keyout $  name.key \   -out $  name.crt \   -config <(cat <<-EOF   [req]   distinguished_name = req_distinguished_name   x509_extensions = v3_req   prompt = no   [req_distinguished_name]   CN = $  name   [v3_req]   keyUsage = keyEncipherment, dataEncipherment   extendedKeyUsage = serverAuth   subjectAltName = @alt_names   [alt_names]   DNS.1 = $  name   DNS.2 = *.$  name EOF  sudo security add-trusted-cert -d -r trustRoot -k /Library/Keychains/System.keychain ourwebsitdomain.local.crt

This was accompanied by two other files, so here

file ./* generate_ssl: ASCII text ourdomain.local.crt: PEM certificate ourdomain.local.key: ASCII text

I’m not that worried i’m more curious. oh then he added this file to our github repo a bit ago, he’s just been acting very weird recently and i’d like to Understand what he’s doing.

Noob question on Scroll effects

I am absolutely new to building websites so i am learning as i go. I am building a blog website and i really like how the blog posts have a scroll effect like this website https://www.reagan-simmons.com/blog. can someone help me attain the same or similar effect for my main blogging page. Is there a code i can copy and past to attain this effect. Thanks in advance. Looking forward to your replies.

As a noob by mistake i ran “sudo chown $pranav.pranav -R /” to solve my Read Only Filesystem. If this is a bad thing, how should i undo this?

How should i do to undo this? I tried running fsck to solve my “Read only filesystem” before but it didn’t help me much. It only solve the situation for a while and then it comes back again. So, i did this after reading a post.

Meanwhile, i am getting thousands of lines like this:

chown: changing group of '/usr/share/doc/distro-info-data': Read-only file system chown: changing group of '/usr/share/doc/software-properties-common/copyright': Read-only file system chown: changing group of '/usr/share/doc/software-properties-common/changelog.gz': Read-only file system chown: changing group of '/usr/share/doc/software-properties-common': Read-only file system chown: changing group of '/usr/share/doc/nmap/3rd-party-licenses.txt.gz': Read-only file system chown: changing group of '/usr/share/doc/nmap/leet-nmap-ascii-art.txt': Read-only file system chown: changing group of '/usr/share/doc/nmap/nmap.usage.txt.gz': Read-only file system chown: changing group of '/usr/share/doc/nmap/device-types.txt.gz': Read-only file system chown: changing group of '/usr/share/doc/nmap/committers.txt.gz': Read-only file system chown: changing group of '/usr/share/doc/nmap/nmap_gpgkeys.txt.gz': Read-only file system chown: changing group of '/usr/share/doc/nmap/style/lua-format.lua.gz': Read-only file system chown: changing group of '/usr/share/doc/nmap/style/README': Read-only file system
