How to manipulate solution outputs that appear in a list?

I have a list {E, {p, ϕ}}, and I need values E, p, and ϕ such that I can later on do operations with them (like ArcCos[p], etc.). I will be repeatedly generating the values in the list, as a list, so doing this by-hand is not an option. How do I get them out of the list?

In this case, the values E, p, and ϕ exist such that they appear as p -> 0.097, ϕ -> 0.03, etc. I need them such that calling, for example, for list = {E, {p, ϕ}}, list[[2,1]] yields 0.097 and not p -> 0.097. This is the issue.

What affect does modulus have on CSPRNG outputs?

I work in security and I’ve seen modulus (modulo) used in many encoding and crypto algorithms. However, today, a friend of mine mentioned that using modulo like this:

unsigned long int result = some_CSPRNG_output % 556600;

“Limits the security effectiveness of the CSPRNG.”

If you are not familiar with C, the pseudo-code there is essentially stating that the output of some cryptographically secure random number generator, such as /dev/urandom on a linux system, squeezed into a positive integer, is assigned to the variable “result.”

The idea behind his argument is that modulus limits the number of possible outputs, therefore weakening the strength of the entropy. He stated for example, that if we have a CSPRNG output and we compute it with modulo 2, there are fewer possibilities of outcome, thus the entropy is weaker.

Is this true? Please explain why or why not.

Can I short two outputs of a decoder?

In the image I have a 3×8 decoder with input lines 10 11 and 12 . I want a 2×4 decoder in my circuit. Can I use this 3×8 decoder for the job by shorting it’s outputs as shown in the image . For example for the first code 00 at input line 12 and 11 , depending on value of line 10 , either o1 or o2 of decoder will be high . I short them to produce first output of 2×4 decoder i-e., D1 in the image . At code 00 D1 will be high because either o1 or o2 is high .Same logic for other outputs .enter image description here

How do I make a Roll20 macro that prompts the user for a save type once, and then outputs the save as though you clicked it on the character sheet?

How do I make a macro for Roll20 that will prompt the user for a save type once, and then roll a save for the chosen ability and output it in a format that matches the format of if they clicked it on the character sheet?

I have the following macro kindly provided by MikeQ in answer to this question – How do I make this Roll20 macro for saving throws work while only asking for the type once? – but the format isn’t the same:

@{selected|token_name} rolls a ?{Save |STR,[[1d20+@{selected|strength_save_bonus}]]/[[1d20+@{selected|strength_save_bonus}]] for a strength |DEX,[[1d20+@{selected|dexterity_save_bonus}]]/[[1d20+@{selected|dexterity_save_bonus}]] for a dexterity |CON,[[1d20+@{selected|constitution_save_bonus}]]/[[1d20+@{selected|constitution_save_bonus}]] for a constitution |INT,[[1d20+@{selected|intelligence_save_bonus}]]/[[1d20+@{selected|intelligence_save_bonus}]] for an intelligence |WIS,[[1d20+@{selected|wisdom_save_bonus}]]/[[1d20+@{selected|wisdom_save_bonus}]] for a wisdom |CHA,[[1d20+@{selected|charisma_save_bonus}]]/[[1d20+@{selected|charisma_save_bonus}]] for a charisma } save!

It yields output of “[character name] rolls a [1d20+mod]/[1d20+mod] for a [type] save!” in the chat.

What are the highest damage outputs for a Warlock of the Fiend? (Pact of the Chain)

My now 3rd level tiefling Warlock of the Fiend just took the pact of the chain (Her familiar is a Quasit). So far I’ve found this to be effective:

Armor of Agathys (Now always cast at 2nd level: +10 temp. hp & 10 cold damage to anything that attacks her) +

Hellish Rebuke (Dexterity save, 2d10 fire damage on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one to a creature that hits her; 1/per long rest but still nice for a reaction)

+ Dark One’s Blessing after the Armor of Agathys disappears (Free temp. Hp for when she kills something = Charisma modifier + warlock level [7])

Her turn: Typically in combat, this means smoking everything in sight with Eldritch Blast; 1d10 force [+4 from Agonizing Blast] and if in a pinch, uses Cloud of daggers to catch several enemies at once.

Not too bad, I would say she’s able to pull her weight in combat with this, but I want to make her a heavier hitter. What are some of the best damage combos, invocations, etc for a Warlock?

Note: Can be answered for any level warlock, Knowing possible builds for the future would be nice, not just for 3rd level.

I need two kind of outputs which will give from single table

A table has three columns A, B, C these columns contain values with combination of both NULL and non NULL record in all columns.

Case 1- I want output of all records who does not have any single null value in any of the column.

case 2- I want output of all the records who have null values in any of the column but in query output should not return these null columns.

Split PDF with Multiple Page Ranges and Multiple Outputs

I need to split 1 PDF file into multiple PDFs, but using specific page ranges.

This CPDF command will split multiple page ranges, but merge them into 1 PDF file.

cpdf in.pdf 1-3,90-97,112-end -o out.pdf

I need a command that will carry out a similar function to the above command, but output each page range to its own PDF.

I’ve looked for solutions to this problem in the PDFTK and CPDF documentation, but haven’t found any help.

Translation destroys all article outputs

Hi @sven,

Something has gone horribly wrong with SER’s translation of articles.

Every other sentence is not translated, #file_links no longer puts a space at the end of lines, even when using ,S].

Weird numbers and letters are inserted everywhere in the articles

Inserted after every few sentences.

I’m using content templates and #file_links to pull in lines.

EDIT: It seems to be a severe issue with Google translate. I just tested SER version 13.67, and the issue still exists. After searching for that number… I found what seems to be a guy who was using auto-translated content experiencing this error… here you can see a sample of what it looks like:

unix command line, e.g. find, to run a script on many binary files that outputs it to a .txt file

i’d like to run a script, say (which converts binary to ascii, but outputs to stdout) on 30 or so *.gz files, but instead of output going to screen, it goes to a *.txt file, similar to so: jonny.gz > jonny.txt how would i do it with a for loop or find command? thanks
