I’m a 2nd year masters student studying theoretical CS (algorithms to be precise). I would like to know if there are any public synchronous discussion groups (slack, discord, etc.) on TCS. CSTheory StackExchange works well when someone has a specific question/query. I felt it would be awesome to have an online forum of people interested in TCS to discuss about various developments of the field and also talk about interesting papers and concepts.
Theoretical CS broadly encompass algorithms, complexity theory, applications of logic in CS, automata theory and also discrete math in general.
If enough people are interested we could create one in discord.
According to my understanding , we should put a slack variable to equate an inequality constrain by inserting the slack varaible in the side that is less than the other side , for example if we have 4x+2<2 this will be 4x+2+slack_variable=2 .But here in Wikipedia :
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Slack_variable In the example section , it says the following “By introducing the slack variable y>=0, the inequality Ax<=b can be converted to the equation y-Ax+b = 0” Which means that the slack variable is inserted in the bigger side ! Please some one explain this confusion.
slack webapp have been acting very weird lately.
When I first log into slack, it shows everything correctly, like coloring the unread channels in bold white and providing the correct unread count.
On refresh, slacks stops showing the unread channels in bold white. I can still see them in the All Unreads though, which still makes this tool usable.
But, when I click on any starred channel and then back to All Unreads, I see that all is read, though it isn’t!!!
Again, refresh shows the correct number of unreads but doesn’t show the unread channels.
I tried signing out and in. Tried clearing the cookies.
I’m using a fresh install on Ubuntu 18.04 on chrome v 75.0.3770.100. Same issue on firefox as well.
How can I ignore notifications for @everyone and @here for all Slack channels?
I know that this can be configured for each channel but and looking for just 1 setting for all Slack channels, as it tedious to configure for all channels.
I have run telegram, slack, skype on startup application ubuntu 16.04
But, the icon doesn’t appear in taskbar (notification area). Howver, it appear as run application

When I try to run it unity dash, it won’t start too. I need to
killall skypeforlinux to make it run through dash menu
The Slack UI is not ideal for some conversations/threads I participate in, where it would be better to have the text and images copied to another format that I can more easily read and process.
I am not an administrator for the Slack forum in question, so I can’t do the bulk export that it looks like admins can do.
Are there other (command-line or GUI) tools I can use with my (non-admin) Slack credentials, to access the text and image content of conversations I have with other Slack users, so that the conversation is more accessible?
I can’t find a solution on how to do that, but there is a deactivate account but I want to remove the account permanently. How can I do that?
On MacOS, when I first open Slack, it always opens to a certain channel. Is there a way to set the default?
