Attempting to start Thunderbird and getting Segmentation Fault (core dumped)

My electric went out last night causing computer to crash and after I cannot start Thunderbird.

From the Launcher the timer spins and just stops. If I try entering thunderbird from terminal I get Segmentation fault (core dumped).

Is there a way to get Thunderbird working again?

Disable sound in thunderbird when sending an email via ctrl+enter?

I am using Mozilla Thunderbird 60.8.0 on Ubuntu 18.04 and I use to send emails by using the Ctrl+Enter shortcut.

This opens a popup saying : “Are you sure you are ready to send this message?” like this one (in French):

The actual popup

This popup is great and it often saved me from sending an email too quickly, but it comes with the default critical sound which, when music is playing, is quite annoying!

Is there any way to keep the popup but disable the sound?

Thunderbird Lightning: How to edit categories?

To edit the categories in the thunderbird lightning calendar could go to Tools -> Options -> Lightning -> Categories, but in the current version (60.3) this doesn’t seem to be possible anymore as Tools -> Options was removed. I also couldn’t find it under the Preferences.

How is it currently possible to edit the calendar categories (delete, change color etc)?

Thunderbird 68 (locally installed): getting message count on sidebar

I am using locally installed Thunderbird 68 on Ubuntu 18.04.

Traditional question: what is the best means to get number of unread messages displayed in sidebar? What piece of software allows just displaying total number of unreads I see when looking at TB?

Firetray extension doesn’t support TB 51+. Birdtray is somewhat glitchy – I’d prefer something more stable, if it exists; also, it requires installing thunderbird from standard repository, which is undesirable.

upgraded to 18.04, now thunderbird will not connect to server

Right after upgrade ubuntu to 18.04 (from 16.?), thunderbird will not connect to the server. Have tried multiple new settings. Posting same question on mozilla community. No problem with upgrade or internet connection afterwards. Using thunderbird 60.8.0. Original POP settings to a comcast server. Incoming – POP mail server, server name mail.comcast.net, port 995. Outgoing – smtp.comcast.net, port 465.

Thunderbird Could not connect to server

My wife’s MacBook Pro running macOS 10.14.3 suddenly developed a problem with Thunderbird 60.7.0.

It cannot connect to any email server and produces an error “Could not connect to server” “The connection was ref…”

I have checked the email accounts, and can logon from Google Chrome on my iMac and on her computer.

What steps can we take to resolve this without losing existing emails?

Ubuntu, postfix, dovecot mail server cannot configure with Outlook or Thunderbird mail client

I have successfully configured my email server with digital-ocean ubuntu 18.04 LEMP droplet and everything work fine so far. I can send & receive email and also successfully configured with round-cube webmail client. I used Mailgun as an SMTP relay.

But when I tried to connect to a mailbox in my mail server through outlook or Thunderbird, it keep on saying that the client failed to find the settings for the account. I tried to do the configuration manually and still giving me the same error.

Any help or suggestion would be appreciable.
