New Star Wars Rev. Ed. GM in need of toolkit

I haven’t played SW Revised Ed. in about 15 years, and when I did I was only a player, not a GM. I decided to GM a game for my nephews but have never GM’d before. I think I’ll be ok on game mechanics (they’re ages 9-15 and I’m simplifying some things for mutual benefit), but I’ll be lacking on GM story-telling skills.

I’m not asking for story ideas, but need some cheat sheets for the descriptive story-telling filler to make things sound realistic and interesting.

Something like a list of planets, their unique traits, native species, languages, etc. Or common animals, common ships, etc. Right now I will have to say things like "a ship lands and out runs a Rodian riding a beast". I would love to say "a C-class freighter lands out steps a Rodian riding a gundark", or whatever. Sure I can look up some of these things and some will come with time, but has someone already thrown together a nifty cheat sheet so it doesn’t take me 20 minutes to come up with 2 lines of story-telling?

Thanks!

How do I update Nvidia display driver on ubuntu 18.04, if I already installed cuda toolkit 10.2 and its bundled display driver?

I installed CUDA toolkit 10.2 on ubuntu 18.04 LTS. I previously did not have any nvidia display drivers, so it came bundled with the 418 version display driver. This seemed to work fine.

I noticed on the NVIDIA site that the latest driver was 430. I want to update my display driver from 418 to 430. How can I do this?

[Downloading the driver directly] (https://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx), and then running the installer, doesn’t work; it gives a complaint that Nvidia is already running with Xorg.

What are the benefits of using a TTRPG Safety Toolkit in comparison to plain communication?

I am aware that this question may come across as ignorant or as an attempt at trolling. While I cannot prove it, I hope enough people believe that this question was asked in good faith and with the goal of gaining a deeper understanding in how to make the game more accessible for players.

I would like to emphasize again that this question is not an underhanded attempt at invalidating how players play a game, or what measures they take to ensure that they feel comfortable while playing.

I have recently come across the TTRPG Safety Tools Toolkit. The idea is that players have either physical cards, or a standardized form of communication to signal that they are not feeling comfortable with something that is happening or about to happen.

A quick summary of the three cards are:

  • The X card can be used at any point if a participant is uncomfortable with the content happening in-game. When the X card is used by tapping the card or typing an “X” in the chat, the group can change, rewind, or skip the content.
  • The N card can be used at any point if a participant feels like they are headed towards an X. When the N card is used by tapping the card or typing an “N” in the chat, the group can change the content or have the scene “fade to black.”
  • The O card can be used at any point if a participant wants to continue with the content. When the O card is used by tapping the card or typing an “O” in the chat, the group is OK to continue with the content. They can also regularly be prompted by an “O?” asked out loud or in the chat to check-in if everyone is still OK.

The toolkit offers more than those three cards, but I am most curious about the cards. I want to know what benefits this somewhat rigid system offers, in comparison to more informal out-of-character conversations with the GM?

Einstein toolkit via Ubuntu Linux subsystem: how to install prerequisite packages?

Following Einstein toolkit’s Simplified tutorial for New Users I tried to “install Prerequisite packages” via the Ubuntu Linux subsystem by the command

sudo apt-get install build-essential pkg-config mpich2? python libmpich2?-dev gfortran git subversion curl gnuplot gnuplot-x11

only to get the following list of errors

Reading package lists... Done Building dependency tree Reading state information... Done Package gnuplot is not available, but is referred to by another package. This may mean that the package is missing, has been obsoleted, or is only available from another source Package subversion is not available, but is referred to by another package. This may mean that the package is missing, has been obsoleted, or is only available from another source E: Unable to locate package mpich2? E: Couldn't find any package by glob 'mpich2?' I am really new to command prompt, Linux, Ubundu, etc. and have no idea how bad these errors are or how to fix them.

I do not know if the errors are due to some mistake during the installation of Ubuntu Linux subsystem.

I would appreciate any help.

P.S. My ultimate puprose is to use Einstein Toolkit on my Windows 10 PC so I would welcome any alternative to te tutorial’s tutorial’s approach.
