Securing data from unwanted users

I inherited a DBA position not so long ago, and even having worked with SQL for the past 20 years it is a different ball game. Anyway, here is my pain 🙂

We need to start hiding sensitive data information . This HAS to be done at the SQL level, as we do not have access to our software sources. I was reading on the web and Data Masking seemed to be the solution, BUT we are running 2014 SQL 🙁

Data encryption does not seem to be a solution (for what I have read) What other options are out there, and keep in mind that I am a newbie at this.

Browser setups for stay safe from malware and unwanted stuff

I have to setup a browser to surf the internet trying to stay safe from malware as much as possible(i already know that there’s no way to stay safe at 100%)

My idea is: use Firefox with this extensions: Adblock Plus, uBlock Origin, HTTPS Everywhere and mostly NoScript Security Suite. I also thought to clear cache when Firefox is closed(

But since I’m not an expert, i searched on the internet infos and i read this: and he said:

disabling JS should not be considered a silver bullet for browser security

Take into consideration that NoScript will also increase the attack surface

Before reading this, i was pretty sure that No Script would have been enough to make browser very very safe. But now I’m wondering if there are safest ways to secure the browser, and now i have these questions:

Is my idea good? If so, what can i improve?

Should I use Chrome instead of Firefox? (I read this so i’m asking it)

Are the extensions that i mention above good?(i know that both Adblock Plus and uBlock Origin block more or less same ads, but i prefer to keep both. Browser performance is not a problem)

is there any other extension that I should install?

there is some other browser setting that i should enable/disable (such as the option to clear cache when Firefox is closed)?

I already know basic rules, such as update browser and OS, don’t open unsafe link etc etc. I would like to know advanced tips. I know that it also depends on the operating system and other stuff, but in this topic i would like to talk about the browser

PS: I know that instead of No Script I could just disable global scripts from browser settings, but i like the way i can allow a script in a site, because some sites could not works without a specific script

PPS: Sorry for my bad english

How to remove unwanted lines in Graphics3D

When I run the following code:

Graphics3D[{{EdgeForm[{Black, Thick}], Red,     Polygon[{{0, 0, 0}, {0, 1, 0}, {1, 1, 0}, {1, 0,        0}}]}, {EdgeForm[{Black, Thick}], Red,     Polygon[{{1, 0, 0}, {1, 1, 0}, {2, 1, 0}, {2, 0,        0}}]}, {EdgeForm[{Black, Thick}], Green,     Polygon[{{0, 0, 0}, {2, 0, 0}, {2, 0, 1}, {0, 0, 1}}]}},   ViewPoint -> {-2, -1, 1}]

enter image description here

I get unwanted “tick marks,” for lack of a better term, on the bottom of the green polygon, only when viewed at certain angles though. I don’t know why they’re there in the first place since I haven’t messed with the opacity and they only show up where the polygons meet. MY QUESTION is how do I remove those marks while still having a thick edge for each polygon?

Also, I know that I could just use Rectangle[] if I wanted to make the plot above without the marks, but my question is for Polygon[]. Thanks

Additional, unwanted language entry

I’ve added Chinese as a second language to my Ubuntu 16.04, as visible in the Text Entry window in the image attached.

However, in the top right, there are three languages present (English, pinyin, Intelligent Pinyin). I don’t know how the second pinyin entry got there, but I don’t want it and don’t know how to get rid of it.

How can I remove this language entry so only my two desired languages are available?

Block unwanted Gmail Texts

I assumed this was already asked here, but it wasn’t, so I guess I’ll ask it~

Yesterday a person texted my phone through a Gmail account and I thought it was just an accident or a bot or something. I reported it as junk and it deleted their initial “Hi.” But since then they’ve messaged me 2 more times, so now I’m assuming is just a creep. How would I go about blocking this Gmail, so I can no longer receive messages from them? I tried looking up how to block numbers, but when I click the Information button and scroll down, “Block this caller” doesn’t even appear to be a button..? I then looked up how to block Gmails, but nothing came up that would help..

How do I stop unwanted randomization of GarageBand software instrument output?

Obligatory version information: GarageBand 10.0.2 on Mac OS version 10.9.5.

Various software instruments in GarageBand projects tend to become unstable for unknown reasons. When this happens, they produce subtle random differences (such as random varying timbre, echo characteristics, and even tone) each time the project is exported.

Rigorously defined, this means that if you export the same project file twice into output files A and B, then A != B with extremely good probability. This behavior happens no matter what output format I use (tested with 128kbps MP3, 196kbps MP3, AAC, and AIFF).

I know some of the software instruments and configurations are random by nature. The unwanted randomization I’m seeing is happening with instruments that shouldn’t be random.

In case anyone’s asking why I’m using an old version of GarageBand, I recall a bad update where a bunch of useful features were removed.
