I am running Ubuntu 18.04 with NVidia Geforce GTX 460 graphics card and set up dual monitor with an HP and Dell monitor. My HP monitor is fine and can display a maximum of 1920×1200 resolution, but my Dell 2408WFP monitor is not recognized and I can only set a max resolution of 1600×900. When I run windows on the same setup both monitors display the max res of 1920×1200. But when I boot Ubuntu I can’t get the Dell monitor to display at the max resolution.
when I run
xrandr --listactivemonitors, I get:
Monitors: 2 0: +*DVI-I-2 1920/546x1200/352+0+0 DVI-I-2 1: +DVI-I-3 1600/423x900/238+1920+0 DVI-I-3
I used the command
ubuntu-drivers autoinstall to install NVidia drivers. When I run the command
ubuntu-drivers devices I get the following:
== /sys/devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:03.0/0000:0a:00.0/0000:0b:00.0/0000:0d:00.0 == modalias : pci:v000010DEd00000E22sv0000196Esd00000865bc03sc00i00 vendor : NVIDIA Corporation model : GF104 [GeForce GTX 460] driver : nvidia-driver-390 - distro non-free recommended driver : nvidia-340 - distro non-free driver : xserver-xorg-video-nouveau - distro free builtin
I tried changing the resolution using NVidia X Server Settings application, but I can’t. At this point I don’t know what else I can do so that my Dell monitor is recognized and set the max resolution of 1920×1200. Any thoughts? Thank you!
